Comedian, actor and writer Yakov Smirnoff is back and he is using his Russian roots along with his brand of comedy to reflect the new political climate between the United States and Russia. As Yakov says, he gets a thrill out of making people laugh – his vision, in his own words, is “to experience happiness and teach it to the world with passion through comedy and sensitivity.” Born in Russia, Yakov has been a mainstay of the entertainment scene since the late ‘70s. He was a regular guest on the hit TV show Night Court and appeared in movies alongside Robin Williams, Tom Hanks and Richard Pryor. Yakov was invited to perform at the White House for several presidents and in fact, President Ronald Regan called him a ‘national treasure’.
